Tongue-tie is a condition in which an unusually short, thick or tight band of tissue (lingual frenulum) tethers the bottom of the tongue's tip to the floor of the mouth. If necessary, tongue-tie can be treated with a surgical cut to release the frenulum (frenotomy).A condition that restricts the tongue's range of motion. The condition is present at birth. Vitamin A deficiency plays a role in oral development and tongue tie. There are two main causes of tongue-tie; either the frenum is too short and tight, or it did not move back down the tongue during development and is still attached to the tongue tip.
