Microvascular Reconstructions:

Microvascular reconstruction surgery is a procedure in which very small blood vessels are rejoined in order to restore blood flow to severed tissue. Microvascular reconstructive surgery involves the transfer of autogenous vascularized tissue to reconstruct extensive tissue defects. Areas commonly reconstructed include the jaws and mouth, the throat, and all areas of the face, scalp, and neck. Microvascular surgery is used to reattach severed fingers, hands, arms, and another amputated parts to the body. This is done by reconnecting the small blood vessels, thus restoring circulation before the injured tissue begins to die. Microvascular head and neck reconstruction is a technique for rebuilding the face and neck using blood vessels, bone, tissue including muscle and skin from other parts of body.
